Nebraska certainly isn’t known for our cheesesteaks; we tend to prefer the kind of steak that comes in a big slab on our plate. But there’s something to be said for these delicious sandwiches filled with strips of seasoned meat and cheese. If you’re looking for the best in the state, head on over to the capital city.
CheeseSteak Grille opened in 2010, though the owners certainly weren't new to this business. They started selling their tasty cheesesteak sandwiches at the Nebraska State Fair, then offered them again at Husker games for a few seasons in the early 2000s.
The eatery has been faithfully feeding hungry folks in Lincoln ever since moving into this modest little space in 2010. The sandwiches are moderately priced for the amount of high-quality meat that goes into each one, and they're so filling that you're bound to leave satisfied.
The meat - you can choose from steak or chicken - is perfectly seasoned with a proprietary blend of spices. It's combined with chopped peppers and onions, then cooked with rich Swiss cheese. You can even watch your sandwich being made to order while you wait.
The sandwiches come in 6" and 10" varieties. Bring your appetite if you try to conquer the larger one! You've got some options to customize your cheesesteak, too, including mushrooms, jalapeños, and four tasty sauces. If you're not in the mood for a sandwich you can also get a rice bowl with the same ingredients on a bowl of rice and chow mein noodles.
Is your mouth watering yet? These incredibly tasty sandwiches make for the perfect treat pretty much any time. The CheeseSteak Grille is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day of the week. Find them at 5640 S 16th St in Lincoln.
