When you live in one of the largest beef-producing states in the nation, searching for the “best” burger can be a lifelong undertaking. Several restaurants around Nebraska have garnered that title over the years; this one in Kearney was named Nebraska’s best burger in the 2013 Nebraska Beef Council’s Best Burger Contest.
The Cellar Bar and Grill has been serving some of Kearney's favorite homestyle meals since 1978.
Every burger starts out with a big, half-pound patty of certified Angus beef. The patties are grilled to perfection before being adorned with some inventive flavor combinations.
But the granddaddy of them all, the burger that was named the best in the state in 2013, is the western burger. It's served with American-Swiss cheese and thick cut bacon, then topped with two huge, crispy onion rings. The Cellar's delectable BBQ sauce is served on the side.
Yes, there are other things on the menu - plenty, in fact. The large menu is full of tastiness, from the appetizers all the way to the oh-my-goodness fried ice cream for dessert.
The Cellar Bar & Grill is located at 3901 E 39th St., Kearney. Visit their website or Facebook page for more information.
The last year for the Best Burger Contest was 2015, but the burgers at The Cellar are still some of the best in our book. If you’ve been to The Cellar, do you agree that they serve the best burger in the state? Tell us your favorite burger variety from this well-loved restaurant in the comments!
For another midwestern favorite, check out this restaurant that serves one of the best tenderloin sandwiches in the state.
