Who doesn’t love a great pastry or fresh-baked loaf of bread? While you have hundreds and hundreds of fantastic bakeries to choose from in Nebraska, only one has been rated best in the state by Yelp reviewers: Culprit Cafe and Bakery in Omaha.
Culprit Cafe & Bakery opened in downtown Omaha on 16th and Farnam in 2013.
The modern but cozy shop is built on a (figurative) foundation of delicious coffee. Culprit exclusively uses beans from Broadway Cafe and Roasting Co. in Kansas City, MO.
The coffee menu includes all of your favorite espresso-based drinks along with French pressed and hand brewed beverages. The enticing aroma of fresh coffee is enough to lure you in from the sidewalk.
But there are plenty of other reasons to visit Culprit. The delectable, made-from-scratch pastries are always creative and always fresh. Grab a seat and relax while you enjoy your selections.
These little beauties are Almond-cello Cakes: "Almond genoise cake soaked in Brasee limoncello, layered with honey-cardamom buttercream, and topped with a little lemon curd." Whoa.
Culprit will even cater your special events. Imagine how impressed your guests would be with this platter of freshly baked soft pretzels or an array of tasty, unique pastries.
Of course, there are few baked treats simpler or more satisfying than fresh, handmade bread. Culprit bakes a variety of artisanal breads daily, including a rotating menu of special selections.
But they also use plenty of it in-house for their breakfast and lunch menu items. This frittata sandwich with ham, muenster cheese, and dijonnaise on a brioche bun looks heavenly.
If you're looking to add a bit of a buzz to your breakfast or lunch, Culprit also offers a small selection of carefully crafted cocktails. This one features vodka, Kahlua, cold brew coffee, coffee bitters, and cream.
The title of “best bakeshop in America” isn’t official by any means, but Yelpers agree that Culprit is the best in the state…and after you visit we’re pretty sure you’ll agree.
Find Culprit Cafe and Bakery at 1603 Farnam St. in Omaha. They’re open 8 am – 3 pm every day except Monday. Learn more and keep up on news and specials on their website or Facebook page.
