There’s always something fun going on in Nebraska, and the summer is especially packed full of awesome festivals. Be sure not to overlook the colorful experience that’s coming up in August at the Nebraska Balloon & Wine Festival.
The Nebraska Balloon & Wine Festival combines some of the most fun things we can imagine: wine, food, music, kids' activities and, of course, hot air balloons.
The 2017 dates for the colorful festival are Friday and Saturday, August 11th and 12th, 2017. It's held on the Coventry Campus just south of 204th & Q Street in Omaha.
As these pictures from 2016 show, the balloons that participate in the festival come in all colors and shapes. Watch in wonder as they light up and gracefully rise into the sky (weather permitting). Then, after the balloons are safely back on the ground, the flames put on an unforgettable show at sunset.
As you may have guessed from the name of the festival, however, there's more to this event than balloons. Wine and beer tastings will be happening on both days and will give attendees a chance to try a wide variety of Nebraska-made beverages.
Live music will light up the air almost as brightly as the balloons do. Arts and crafts displays will keep you interested as you take a few laps around the grounds to take it all in.
Great food, a marketplace, and even helicopter and hot air balloon rides (for an extra fee; advance reservation required) make this one of the summer's must-do events.
