Burgers and milkshakes: is there any more mouthwatering combination at the end of a long summer day? Well, maybe – when the burgers are made from Nebraska-raised Angus beef and the shakes are creative and perfectly flavored, that elevates the experience into “legendary” territory. Angus Burgers and Shakes in Kearney hasn’t been around long, but they’ve made quite an impression on burger lovers.
Angus Burgers and Shakes opened on June 1st, 2016 at 421 W Talmadge St Suite C in Kearney. They bill themselves as "a fresh adaption of the most classic restaurant concept in America." The menu appeals to both foodies and regular hungry people - there's something on this menu for every taste.
This little beauty, for example, is the tater tot casserole burger. It's got spring pea mash mayonnaise, a juicy patty, gruyere cheese, tater tots, mushroom gravy and crispy onions on a seeded roll.

If you've ever been to Illinois, you might be familiar with a horseshoe sandwich, which is more or less an open-face burger buried in fries and smothered in cheese. This horseshoe burger from Angus Burgers & Shakes replicates that unique flavor sensation and adds some chili to the cheese fries for good measure.

Here you see the Carolina BBQ burger, featuring white American cheese, coleslaw, Carolina BBQ sauce, pork burnt ends and potato chips. (Why doesn't every burger come with fries or chips in it? Seriously, try it.)
The pub burger is a behemoth of a sandwich with Monterey Jack cheese, BBQ, onion rings, nacho cheese sauce, and bacon on a pretzel bun. Make sure to ask for extra napkins - or just give in and eat it with a fork and knife. Nobody will judge, we promise.
The cinnamon roll chili burger might be our favorite AB&S creation. This "secret menu item" pays homage to the beloved Nebraska tradition of eating our chili and cinnamon rolls together.
The lunch lady sandwich consists of a sloppy joe on a house roll, fried onions, tomato, pickles, and cheddar cheese. Pardon me while I wipe some drool from my chin.
While the burgers are out of this world and absolutely worth a visit on their own, let's not forget about the last part of the restaurant's name: the shakes. They come in a variety of mouthwatering flavors, including birthday cake (pictured)...
Holy cow. I’ve got a pretty hefty burger and shake craving how. How about you?
