There’s nothing like a flea market to bring out the treasure hunter and bargain chaser in all of us. There’s a flea market in the small town of Sargent that not only has everything you could ever dream of; it also offers free space for anyone who wants to sell pretty much anything.
The little central Nebraska town of Sargent, in Custer County, is known as the "Antique Capital of Nebraska." The antique and salvage shops there are some of the best in the state.
In June, Sargent hosts 183FLEA Market, a sprawling outdoor market that features sellers and dealers of all descriptions. Its name comes from Hwy 183, which runs right through Sargent.
While the town's reputation as the antique capital of the state brings in folks looking for vintage goods, 183FLEA Market is about a whole lot more than antiques.
You'll find just about everything at this fun shopping event. If you're looking for a new piece of home decor, the perfect gift for a friend, a piece of handmade jewelry to match your unique personality, or even some homemade baked goodies, you'll find it here.
Along with antiques and collectibles, of course. Lots and lots of antiques and collectibles. You may even meet your new love here - just wear a white shirt to signify that you're single, and keep an eye out for other singles in white shirts.
183FLEA Market is sponsored by Abbott Antiques and EarthJunk, two of Sargent's many fantastic shops. The event is absolutely free for everyone - even vendors!
There are hundreds of spaces open for vendors selling anything. Whether you're peddling a single motorcycle, a car trunk full of household items, or a whole trailer full of high-end antiques, there's space at 183FLEA Market. Individuals and professional dealers are all welcome. The sponsors' goal is to make this flea market a true shopping destination.
As a huge bonus, vendors who claim a free spot at 183FLEA Market will also get a free spot for the Junk Jaunt in September!
The 2019 183FLEA Market will be the market’s second year. It takes place on June 13, 14, and 15th, the same weekend as the nearby Comstock Windmill Festival.
You can visit Sargent pretty much anytime for a whole lot of antique shopping – just check out this article from the archives to learn more about the town’s many excellent shops.
