When it comes to popular vacation destinations in Montana, Whitefish nearly always tops the list. Montana residents, people from across the US, and many Canadians flock to this charming resort town every year, in every season. And given its fairytale-like appearance, it’s easy to see why.
People who live here tend to know their neighbors and welcome visitors.
While people had been living in the area prior, the 1904 arrival of the Great Northern Railway officially brought Whitefish to life. It was originally called "Stumptown" because the area was (and is) so wooded, but luckily that name never really stuck.

Whitefish sees around 300 inches of snow every year, so there’s always plenty of time to enjoy the experience.
Whitefish is only 11 miles from Glacier National Park, and it’s in the beautiful Flathead County.
