Butte’s KOA Campground is located halfway between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone, and it provides a restful stop for campers on their way to either park. Visitors who stay here can also see all Butte has to offer by hopping on the Old No. 1 trolley car that boards at the Chamber of Commerce. The campground itself has great amenities like firewood, propane, WiFi and a seasonal pool.
But it’s the tiny shop next to the office called the Chicken Shack that makes this campground truly amazing. For years, locals and visitors alike have stopped here solely for their fried chicken fix.

You don’t even have to be staying at the Butte KOA to enjoy the Chicken Shack’s food. You’re welcome to call ahead, place your order, pick it up and have your dinner at home or at your hotel.
But of course, there’s something to be said for enjoying a delicious meal around a campfire or on the patio, enjoying views of the Rocky Mountains while you dine. The onsite convenience store sells local brew and wine to add to your meal, and you can top everything off with a homemade pie from the Chicken Shack.
