As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
As restaurants and bars start to open slowly in Montana, some people may be eager to get back to cozy, romantic dinners at fine dining restaurants or craft cocktails at trendy bars. But the vast majority of us are just looking forward to walking into our neighborhood bar and eatery and seeing familiar faces, not to mention the old-fashioned hospitality you’ll find at some of our old tried-and-true spots. If you happen to live near Lincoln, make sure the Wheel Inn Tavern is on your list.
Lincoln is located in Lewis and Clark County, about 77 miles east of Missoula.
On a warm summer day, you'll find plenty of locals chatting with people who are just passing through as they hang out on the deck with a cold beer and hot burgers. Inside, you might see a group huddled around the pool table or trying their luck at a slot machine.
You won't find a fancy Instagram account or any flashy marketing from this place — it's a quaint, off-the-beaten-path place, and that's just how they like it.
The Wheel Burger is legendary, and they just might serve the tastiest fried chicken in Western Montana.
And if you have one too many cold Montana beers or you're on a road trip and you need a break, you can sleep it off at the motel next door, Three Bears Motel.
And yes, this does mean you can enjoy a burger in bed.
While Wheel Inn Tavern is set to open to the public again soon, they’re currently cooking up all their tasty menu items (plus daily specials) for takeout orders.
