1. Mei Wah Building and Museum, Butte
This historic building is a testament to the thriving Chinese community in Butte during the 1930s. But an angry ghost is said to inhabit the building, attacking people and pushing them down flights of stairs. Some visitors and employees swear they’ve seen a dark apparition staring down at them from the upper floors of the building.
2. Fort Peck Hotel
If you’ve been to the Fort Peck Hotel and found it to be a little eerie, you’re not alone. This building was once used as living quarters for those constructing a nearby dam, and many of the people who died during the dam’s construction are believed to haunt the hotel. You just might see the apparition of a man who likes to sit in a red armchair in one of the guest rooms.
3. Montana Territorial Prison, Deer Lodge
Considering this prison wasn’t a happy place when it was in use, it’s no surprise that numerous angry ghosts are said to reside here. The old prison was known for its overcrowding and insufficient facilities, and there were a few suspicious deaths here. Sometimes visitors exploring the old prison are touched by someone who isn’t there.
4. The Lobby Bar (and old Davenport Hotel), Great Falls
The Lobby Bar, which was once the Davenport Hotel, is considered to be one of the most haunted buildings in Montana. Apparitions have been caught on tape, and over 12 ghosts are believed to be there. Patrons at the bar often feel cold chills for no logical reason, and employees have seen glasses fly off the shelves, not to mention the many actual ghost sightings that have occurred. This bar might be fun to visit, but not so much to work in at night.
5. Antique Depot Building at 2223 Montana Avenue, Billings
In 1945, a plane crashed in Billings and there were too many bodies for the local morgue to acommodate. Bodies were temporarily placed in the refrigerators at the old grocery store by the train depot. The building, which until recently was home to a large antique store, is a creepy place to spend time alone. People have spotted an old World War II soldier walking around the store who vanishes as they get closer. One of the plane crash victims was a WWII soldier, which makes it even more eerie.
6. The Colstrip Power Plant
The Colstrip Power Plant is considered a "hot spot" for spirits. The power plant produces massive amounts of electrical energy in which all kinds of apparitions are seen. Employees at the power plant hear strange voices, see "shadow figures" and sometimes notice their personal items go missing, even when they’re alone.
7. Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art, Great Falls
This building was the old Great Falls High School in 1896. It has been the museum since 1977, and apparently the ghost of a young girl hangs out in the basement. People have reported hearing children whisper in the halls.
These buildings can certainly be scary to visit alone. And if you enjoy feeling terrified, check out these haunted Montana houses .
