Over a century ago, the town of Stevensville came together to rebuild their creamery after a fire destroyed it. The picnic is meant to celebrate the time when the community came together to support each other.
Stevensville is Montana's oldest settlement, so it makes sense that the longest-running festival would take place here.

The picnic has been celebrated annually since 1911 except for one year during World War I.
The community-sponsored event hosts an array of activities that go way beyond food.

The festival kicks off with a parade, followed by a kiddie parade. You can also catch the live music performances, participate in the Milk Run (a 5K and 10K) or grill your finest meat for the BBQ contest., plus shop for Montana-made crafts.
