As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Even when we’re at home exploring our own backyards, it’s fun to think about the months to come when we’re able to explore all of Montana once again. And when that day finally arrives, most Montanans won’t flock to a city, but even further into nature. Recently, we discovered the most amazing renovated homesteader’s cabin in the Gallatin Mountains, and while it’s only a few miles from the city of Bozeman, you’ll feel like you’re in your own world.
This is the Bear Canyon Bunkhouse, a fully renovated home that dates all the way back to 1897.
It was once the home of Bessie Alice Williams and her family. Bessie married Orlando Lawrence, and they raised their family here. Orlando eventually bought a sawmill in Bear Canyon, which he operated until his death.

These days, the cabin is owned by Jason and Jackie Wickens, who rent it out on Airbnb.
Not only have they kept the place immaculate, they've also filled it with all kinds of cozy amenities.

The large living room is full of soft furniture and a looming fireplace, which is a perfect gathering spot after a long day spent in the great outdoors.
