Roll The Windows Down And Take A Drive Down Skalkaho Highway Scenic Byway In Montana
We like to think we get four full seasons here in Montana. But those who call the Treasure State home that in reality, we only get two: winter and road trip season. Since we’re finally coming up on the latter, we’d like to recommend taking a drive over the Skalkaho Highway Scenic Byway… especially if you need to be reminded of just how beautiful Montana truly is.

This stunning stretch of highway spans about 45 miles, but don't count on being done in an hour... you'll want to take this one slowly.

The route climbs through the Sapphire Mountains, a lesser-known (and not often visited) part of Montana.

Fuel up your vehicle and grab some snacks and water, because you won't see any signs of civilization for a while once you leave Hamilton.

You'll also notice the slow, steady elevation gain you're embarking on.

Skalkaho Falls is one of many highlights on the path. You'll definitely want to pull over and take it all in.

While you may not find the scenery as spectacular as in some of Montana's top tourist destinations, the lack of crowds here -- not to mention the fresh mountain air -- makes it a perfect day trip.
