Any city or town can sound silly to someone who has never heard the name before (say “Missoula” 10 times fast, for example). And while the names of these Montana towns might make us smile, they’re also pretty great, and you should definitely visit them.
Located in Sheridan County near the Canadian border, the town of Plentywood is downright pleasant. The name of the nearby Plentywood Creek, after which the city was named, apparently comes from a search for firewood.
Visit this little Flathead community in the summertime, when the huckleberries are fresh and the Huckleberry Patch will serve you the best ice cream ever.

This quiet little historic railroad town sits between the Absaroka Range and the Gallatin Range in Paradise Valley, so the scenery is spectacular. And it's right on the way to Chico Hot Springs Resort, a perfect place to spend a weekend.

There's not much to the town of Wisdom -- only 98 people call it home. But given how crowded most of Montana has gotten, maybe that's what is smart about it.

They should really just change Bigfork's name to Beautiful. Located in the spectacular mountains of northwest Montana where the Swan River meets Flathead Lake, this town is amazing in any season.
There's not much to the town of Yaak (but you should visit it anyway). The Yaak Valley, however, is incredibly gorgeous, and every Montanan should see it.
Anacondas are a group of large snakes found in tropical South America, which is why it seems a little silly to name an industrial town in Montana after them. Nevertheless, Anaconda is awesome and has a lot of fun attractions.
Like the demure horse itself, the town of Pony is tiny. But it involves a drive down some beautiful back roads, and it's an old mining community with a lot of historic buildings that are still standing.
