With seven national parks and over fifty state parks, Montana has no shortage of outdoor adventures to enjoy. Experienced hikers and novices alike can explore miles and miles of trails through breathtaking landscapes, with soaring mountains, pristine forest, and stunning glacial lakes. If you’re looking for a way to experience gorgeous views of Big Sky Country without a strenuous hike up a mountainside, Whitefish Mountain Resort’s scenic lift might be the answer.
Whitefish Mountain Resort is located in (you guessed it) Whitefish, Montana. It’s a popular skiing destination in the wintertime, but the resort is open year-round. It attracts visitors for hiking, mountain biking, zip line tours, an aerial adventure park, summer tubing, and a scenic lift ride that offers a one-of-a-kind way to experience Montana's beauty.
You’ll be able to choose from either an enclosed gondola or an open chairlift to take you up to the summit of Whitefish Mountain. Whitefish Lake, the Flathead Valley, and Glacier National Park are all visible along the ride, and once you reach the summit, you’ll have 360-degree views of the landscape below.
Hikers looking for more of a challenge can hike up the Danny On Trail and then take the scenic lift back down – or even hike the full 8.6 miles out and back. And if you aren't able to hike at all, you can always take the lift both up and down the mountain.
