The Izaak Walton Inn borders Glacier National Park, and in fact, it almost served as an entrance to the park at one time. It was built in 1939 next to the railroad yard for the use of railroad service personnel.

The inn’s railroad history is honored with the four old cabooses that remain for rent by the night. Each caboose has a private bathroom with a shower, a small kitchen, and a deck with a propane grill overlooking the tracks. There’s a two night minimum for a caboose rental, but you won’t mind.
