As Montana’s population continues to grow and our tourism industry becomes more popular, some of our top spots can get a bit crowded, especially our delicious restaurants. But there are also plenty of tried-and-true favorite eateries where you’ll be welcome and given a table as quickly as possible, no reservation required.
We’re not saying the restaurants on this list never get crowded… but if you’re hungry for a wonderful meal and you haven’t made a reservation, you won’t have to worry here.
Fresco Cafe is a neighborhood gem with fresh, made-from-scratch entrees and amazing Tiramisu. The weekend crowds sometimes make prompt seating a challenge, but it remains delightfully uncrowded on weeknights — and even if you do arrive at dinnertime on a Saturday, they'll make every effort to seat you.
As Miles City's only sit-down Mexican restaurant, Mexico Lindo doesn't have much competition. But they still deliver hearty, high-quality Mexican food to the table in record time, and you'll always be seated promptly when you arrive.
Cozy, intimate and welcoming, Ciao Mambo is a family-friendly Italian eatery with some of the most flavorful food in town. There are also Ciao Mambo locations in Whitefish and Billings, but the Missoula location especially embodies the neighborhood gem vibe.
4. Hanging Five Family Restaurant, 2110 Harvard Ave., Butte

5. Last Chair Kitchen and Bar, 1705 Wisconsin Ave., Whitefish
The team at Last Chair wants you to feel welcome as you enjoy a tasty meal and beverage, recounting the day's highlights with your loved ones. And although they do stay busy during tourist season, they always seem to find room for everyone who stops by.
For delicious fine dining in a casual setting, just head to Benny's Bistro. Not only are you practically guaranteed to get a table, sometimes you'll enjoy live music as well.
Imperial Thai may be a casual, unassuming spot, but it has some of the best food in Billings. Best of all, the prices are reasonable and the service is friendly.
You'll always find a seat in this old blacksmith shop-turned-restaurant, and you're sure to love the smoked meats, baked potatoes, and bacon mac & cheese, too.
This Chinese restaurant is a little tough to spot from the street, and that's probably why it's never busy — because those who do stumble across it tend to love it.
Roadhouse Diner is THE place to go for a huge, mouthwatering burger in Great Falls. And if you choose to stay and dine in, there are usually plenty of open tables.
Since no one loves waiting forever for a meal, it’s nice to know the Treasure State still has restaurants that typically have tables ready. And for a warm, welcoming down-home feeling, try one of our neighborhood restaurants.
