Spending time on Montana’s hiking trails is a great way to explore the beauty of the state, and if you can throw in a waterfall, it gets even better. The Red Rock Falls Trail in Glacier National Park, Montana is a short, easy trail that’s perfect for hikers of any skill level – even beginners. Check it out:
Glacier National Park is Montana's most treasured gem, and it's well worth exploring. For a short, easy hike, take the Red Rock Falls trail.
You'll find the trailhead in Many Glacier. It's located at the end of the parking lot for the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.
The trail is just 3.6 miles out and back, and it's easy enough for most hikers to tackle. The elevation change on the hike is only 236 feet, so there aren't any steep spots to navigate.
Watch for wildlife along the way! Moose are common in this area, so keep an eye out for them, especially near the lakes and the marshy areas around the water.
Red Rock Falls is a truly stunning sight to behold. You'll want to allow yourself plenty of time to take in their beauty before you head back down the trail.
From the main trail, you'll find several smaller trails that lead you down to various vantage points along the falls. You'll see first hand why these are called "red rock" falls.
