When it comes to a Montana summer, there’s a lot to look forward to, and outdoor dining is definitely up there. When the weather warms up, our favorite eateries open their patios and decks for dining al fresco. And since that also happens to be the safest way to enjoy a restaurant meal right now, we’re eagerly anticipating this season.
These are a few of our favorite Treasure State spots with outdoor dining. Just make sure to double-check their hours before you go, as these uncertain times mean many eateries are routinely adapting and adjusting operating times.
This delightful little Italian cafe is a local hot spot, and for good reason -- the food and service are both outstanding. They recommend making a reservation before you go, as capacity is still limited.
Missoula has plenty of restaurants with outdoor dining, but there's just something special about Tamarack. The patio overlooks Caras Park, which is right on the river. Plus, there's nothing like a tasty burger and a cold brew on a hot day.
Tasty BBQ from Cherries Pit is a summer tradition for Montanans to flock to Flathead Lake. There's limited seating inside, but most prefer to enjoy their food outdoors.
Harper & Madison serves an unforgettable brunch, complete with freshly baked pastries and the best coffee on the planet. Their patio is open for seasonal dining, and it's delightful.
Located in the heart of downtown Whitefish, Jersey Boys Pizzeria is handmade and topped with nothing but the highest quality ingredients. And while you're welcome to order your food online and take it to-go, their outdoor seating area just might tempt you into sticking around.
If anyone tries to tell you that there's no good sushi in Montana, just sent them straight to Dave's Sushi. The eatery was founded by a software engineer with a passion for fresh fish, and it's now one of Bozeman's most popular eateries. And there's nothing better than enjoying it on the patio.
Lakeside on Hauser is more of a party than a restaurant, although their food is definitely delicious. The property is located on the shores of Hauser Lake, a reservoir on the Missouri River at the east edge of the Rocky Mountains. Dine on the patio or right down by the lake.
