The Sapphire Lake In Montana That's Devastatingly Gorgeous
The scenery in Glacier National Park is so visually stunning, it often doesn’t even look real in photos. But this incredible place is as real as it gets, and the park is Montana’s pride and joy. Lake Josephine is a gem hidden deep within the park, and when the light hits it properly, it’s a beautiful deep sapphire blue.

Luckily, you can reach it with an easy one mile hike.

Still, it's just enough off the beaten path that it's not as busy as some of the park's more easily accessible lakes.

Lake Josephine is primarily a brook trout lake, but sometimes kokanee salmon are caught. The surrounding mountains sometimes protect the area from harsh winds, making it easier to fly fish.

Mt. Gould, Allen Mountain, and Grinnell Point all tower above the lake. It's also an easy hike from this area to Grinnell Lake, another breathtaking sight.
Have you ever seen Lake Josephine? We might be a little biased, but we think Montana lakes are the best.
