Butte was once known as the Richest Hill on Earth due to its booming mining operations, and around the turn of the 20th century, it was thriving. The historic Hotel Finlen was founded in 1924, and it’s still standing (and more beautiful than ever).

The hotel was originally established by James Finlen, the son of Miles Finlen, an Irish immigrant who opened the McDermitt Hotel in Butte in 1889. It was built for $750,000, a hefty sum back then. After being owned by the same family for 40 years, the property was acquired by a group of four investors in 2018.
