8 Haunted Houses In Montana That Will Terrify You In The Best Way
Montana is an especially fun place to be in October. Between our pumpkin patches, costume contests and corn mazes, we’ll help you get into the spirit of Halloween. But there’s nothing quite like a professional haunted house to get you ready to celebrate our spookiest holiday. This is a list of every known haunted house—or in some cases, field— happening in Montana this year. Enter at your own risk.

Billings’ Moss Mansion gets into the Halloween spirit every year, and this year they’ve got a spooktacular lineup of events. The Moss Mansion Horror Theater is an interactive haunted house where you’ll see America’s first serial killer, H.H. Holmes, lure in some unsuspecting victims. The Murder Castle tours take place October 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 and 31, and they’re not for the faint of heart. For a tamer experience, check out their outdoor haunted maze or come for Shocktails on October 15.

For the fourth year in a row, the Missoula Haunted House will be terrorizing locals from October 14-31 at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. Each year they come up with a horrifying backstory, and this year’s "Quarantine: Death From Above" sounds especially scary.

Imagine having one hour to escape from a room before time runs out and someone very evil returns (or a mine collapses, depending on which room you choose). Belgrade’s Escape Room offers guests their choice of three interactive experiences, all of them terrifying. They’re open from Thursday-Sunday, and reservations are required (406-219-7227).

Billings also has an Escape Room with a choice of three experiences, which they change seasonally. Right now their Jail Break, Abandoned! And Diner Disaster rooms are open Monday-Saturday.

Butte is known for its ghosts, and this is one city that loves to celebrate Halloween. In addition to their Haunted Montana History event at the Butte Centennial Brewery on October 14 and numerous ghost walks and harvest festivals, The Original Nightmare is coming to the Original Mine Yard on October 28, 29 and 31 from 7-11 PM. This just might be Montana’s scariest haunted attraction.

Every year the Sparkettes, Great Falls' best baton-twirling dance troupe, hosts a haunted house or attraction to raise funds for their organization. This year’s Trail of Terror is open October 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29 and 31. This will be a haunted field with plenty of scary surprises lurking around each corner.

It doesn’t get much scarier than a "field of screams." Set in a 3-acre corn field, you’ll walk through paths of high corn and graveyards filled with zombies. If you hear the sounds of Chainsaw Man, you’ll want to head the other way. The Field of Screams is open October 1-31 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with two sessions per night.

Stillwater County will get in on the Halloween fun this year. The New Atlas Bar is hosting The Nightmare on Main Street, which will take place above the bar. It’s open on October 21, 22, 28 and 29 from 7-11 PM, and it’s recommended for ages 10 and older only.
