Even lifelong Montanans have a list of local places they have yet to explore. The Treasure State is vast, and it’s full of hidden gems. One such place is the Ross Creek Cedars Recreation Area nestled in the Libby area in the northwest corner of the state. When you’re walking through it, you feel like you’re in another world.

The Ross Creek Scenic Area is located on the Kootenai National Forest near Troy.

The road to reach the cedars is somewhat steep and winding, but most of it is paved.
Once you've arrived, park your car and hit the trail.

You can choose a picturesque and paved nature trail, a very easy walk with informational signs and benches along the route, or challenge yourself with the 4.5 mile Ross Creek Trail 142 route.
The further in you get, the more breathtaking the scenery is.
