The Water Is A Brilliant Blue At Fort Peck Reservoir, A Refreshing Roadside Stop In Eastern Montana
Northeast Montana has such a unique beauty. And thanks to the popularity of the western half of the state, it’s an area that sits mostly untouched by tourists, other than fellow Montanans venturing over for the day. Fort Peck Reservoir is a prime example of Eastern Montana’s treasures, and this is one place you’ll certainly want to see.

The lake sits right off of State Highway 24, so for those in Eastern Montana, it's an easy roadside stop.

It's so enormous that you may feel like you're standing at the edge of the ocean at times.

You'll often see Montanans swimming, kayaking, and fishing here.

Severe flooding along the Missouri River in 1943 hampered the economic development of the Missouri River Valley and interfered with the production of military supplies for World War II, so five more dams were added.

Plenty of people also venture over from North and South Dakota to check out the reservoir in all its glory.

Not only is the lake fantastic, but the town of Fort Peck is home to historic buildings from the Depression-era that are pretty interesting to see.
