This Cherry Festival Is One Of Montana's Sweetest Summertime Traditions
Do you have any Montana summer traditions? For many of us, the warm weather is a perfect excuse to head to Flathead Lake. And if you happen to be going in July, you may be able to catch the annual Flathead Cherry Festival in Polson. If you like cherries (or you just enjoy a good small town festival), this will become a sweet summer tradition.

Cherries don't normally grow in cold climates, but the microclimatic effect of Flathead Lake makes it possible to produce these beauties.

The 2019 festival dates are July 20-21.

While cherries are obviously the focus, the festival is really about celebrating community.

The local food vendors will be serving some seriously scrumptious meals and snacks, like this Bison burger with cherries, feta, and onion from Bitterroot Bison.

And if you're not hungry enough to win a pie-eating contest, you can take part in the cherry pie-spitting contest as well. Contestants spit cherry seeds down 3rd Avenue, and whoever spits the farthest wins a prize (and extreme satisfaction).

Come ready to shop, ready to eat, and ready to mingle with your fellow Montanans. The Flathead Cherry Festival is a time-honored tradition.
