The One Spring Festival In Montana That's Worthy Of Your Bucket List Every Year
Oddly enough, the majority of Montana’s annual festivals happen in the summer or winter. And while we do have some fun spring festivals in Montana that are worth checking out, there’s one in particular that we recommend to every Montanan. For over 30 years, the Moss Mansion in Billings has hosted SpringFest, and this year’s festivities are going to be better than ever.
Have you ever been to an event or festival at the Moss Mansion? What other spring festivals in Montana do you enjoy? Be sure to share your experiences with us in a comment.
Another fun thing to do in spring is to take a day trip from Bozeman to Yellowstone to see Old Faithful & Grand Prismatic Spring.
When Glacier National Park opens up in the spring it is a beautiful sight. Check out this quick slideshow of one of our favorite natural wonders:

Spring In Montana
What are some things to do in Montana in spring?
When Montana wakes up for spring wildlife comes out to play, wildflowers reach for the sun, and the mountain air seems to be a little bit more invigorating. Here are a few things to do in Montana in spring that we think you'll enjoy:
- Warm up at the Renova Hot Springs, Whitehall, MT: A wonderful springtime activity is to enjoy a soak in one of the hot spring-fed pools that always hover around 104 to 110 degrees. You can find the Renova Hot Springs in the southeast corner of the Potosi Creek Campground. The springs are on public property so anyone can come to enjoy them at no cost. Spring is a great time to walk to the springs before summer crowds take over the area.
- Hidden Lake Trail wildflower hike, Siyeh Bend, MT: Montana is blessed with access to the beautiful Glacier National Park. With around 1,000 species of wildflowers and flowering plants, a spring hike is pretty stunning. The five-mile Hidden Lake Trail starts out at the Logan Pass Visitor Center and takes you through some of the most beautiful country Montana has to offer. When you look out at the lake with tall peaks in the background and colorful wildflowers bursting in the foreground the sight is breathtaking.
- Go pond skimming, Big Sky, MT: What better way is there to celebrate the coming of spring than slapping on a pair of skis and seeing how far you can skim across a series of open sections of water? The Pond Skiing Festival in Big Sky is a fun free event that brings in big crowds to see somewhat crazy people eventually plunge into freezing water toward the end of April. Whether you are up for being a contestant or simply want to watch, it is a fun time.
Of course, there are many wonderful natural areas and hiking trails to explore. A good spring hike is a great way to enjoy some time in nature. Be sure to grab some maps from AllTrails+ before you head out on your next adventure.
