The Whitefish Lake Restaurant has roots dating back to the 1920s when local residents purchased approximately 100 acres of land to build a golf course.

The money was hard to come by and it was clear they'd need more. Luckily, local politicians created a grant program for funds to be provided for the creation of emergency landing fields. The golf course project also became an airport project. Today, the space is strictly a golf course.
