Even life in the beautiful state of Montana requires a change of scenery now and then. But sometimes, our big need for a vacation doesn’t quite fit our small budgets. The next time you need a break from the grind, consider embarking on a day trip to Dillon.

It may not be a major tourist destination, but it certainly has a lot to offer, especially for the budget traveler.

This well-preserved ghost town is absolutely loaded with local history. Bannack was Montana's first territorial capital, and it's free for Montana residents to visit.

It also happens to be quite affordable, a perfect pit stop on a budget-friendly road trip.

The community is warm and welcoming, so don't be surprised when you're greeted like an old friend as you're walking around town.
