Devil's Slide is an unusual cliff rock formation on the side of Cinnabar Mountain.

The formation is likely to have occurred when alternate beds of limestone, sandstone and quartzites eroded at different times.

In 1871, very few white travellers had ventured this far south in the Yellowstone River valley. The Cook–Folsom–Peterson Expedition passed it several years prior, but it's not clear how old the structure really is.
The Devil's Slide can be spotted from Highway 89, or you can see it from the viewing area.
