In the northwestern part of the state, you have Glacier National Park to explore by foot or car with camping also available. Not to mention that the Yellowstone entrance in Gardiner, Montana, is historic: it was the first-ever entrance to the first-ever national park in 1872.

Camping in Montana is a great way to take in the outdoors with your whole family. And campgrounds that have a little something extra for the kids are not too hard to find throughout the state. At Thompson Falls State Park, you can camp near the Clark Fork River. In addition to the fishing opportunities for you, you can also float on the river in a canoe or raft. There’s also a loop perfect for riding bikes and great access to huckleberry hunting. You can tent camp, stay in a cabin, or bring your RV.

In Whitehall, there is Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park, Montana’s first-ever state park, where you can explore a limestone cave. You can also camp here and choose from seven different hikes. At Lone Pine State Park in Kalispell, you can take in the gorgeous vistas of the Flathead Valley and Flathead Lake in MT. There are also 7.5 miles of trails to hike, bike, or horseback ride as well as a volleyball court and archery range.
