The charming and underrated town of Anaconda is a perfect destination.

Anaconda, which is located about 24 miles from Butte, got its start as an industrial town filled with early settlers and immigrants who worked hard and built a welcoming community.

You can take a self-guided walking tour and learn more about Anaconda’s historic buildings by grabbing a guidebook from the Visitors’ Center at 306 East Park Avenue.
Check out the Washoe Theater at 305 Main Street, a Nuevo Deco Theater that dates back to 1936 (the opening was delayed due to the Great Depression).

If you're able to go inside, you'll love the Art Deco furnishings and ornate detail. It’s even been voted one of the most beautiful theaters in America.
If you’re there during the week, pay a visit to the Copper Village Museum & Arts Center at 401 East Commercial.

The Hearst Free Library on Main Street is a must-see if you’re a reader.

The building is a beautiful example of turn-of-the-century architecture. No expense was spared when it was being built, and the property has been well cared for over the years.
