There’s nothing like a relaxing drive down one of Montana’s scenic highways to remind us of just how lucky we are to live here. And as much as we’d like to see them all, most of us won’t be able to dedicate that much time to driving. But if you’re able to check out these 5 scenic byways, you’ll be off to a fantastic start.
Considering this is one of the most spectacular highways in the country, it's something every Montanan should experience. Between the panoramic views and wildlife watching, you'll want to take plenty of time to explore it.
Located in the Kootenai National Forest, Lake Koocanusa Scenic Byway was created in 1992. The 67-mile route connects Libby and Eureka, and the drive is absolutely gorgeous.

This is such a perfect way to see Montana's plains. The drive takes you through a section of the historic Regina-Yellowstone (R-Y) Trail, passing through the badlands of Terry. The route is on state highways 253, 200 and 13.
No list like this is complete without Glacier National Park's famous Going-to-the-Sun Road. This route is so unbelievably gorgeous, many recommend taking a red bus tour instead of driving so you don't miss a thing.
