Even spending a lifetime in Montana doesn't always prepare you for the fact that it sometimes snows in June... even on days that start out warm and sunny.

The hot days of summer are limited in the Treasure State, but they can be brutal, especially when you're used to chilly winds and snow.

Depending on where in Montana you grow up, you may leave your house and car doors unlocked, and you may be surrounded by a supportive and trustworthy community. Unfortunately not everyone is like that (including in Montana, of course). Unfortunately, some of us learn that the hard way, hopefully on a small scale.

This doesn't happen as often to Montanans as it does elsewhere (but we're not naming names, Florida). But we're still sorry about that whole "Unabomber" thing, everyone.

It can get awkward explaining that the 4th largest state in the country is, in fact, full.
Luckily, an awkward day in Montana is better than an average day anywhere else… probably because we live in the best state.
