This Abandoned Town In Montana Has Been Reclaimed By Nature

One of the most interesting things about any place is the history of how it came to be. From politics to architecture, there’s an entire story in just about everything around us. And that’s particularly true for places that have been abandoned. This abandoned town in Montana gives us a glimpse into what life was once like. Additionally, it allows us to see what nature would do if it were allowed to exist without any human involvement.

Located near Glasgow in Valley County, you'll find the abandoned town of Saint Marie.

The area was once home to the Glasgow Air Force Base. Saint Marie became home to military personnel and their families.

However, the base closed in 1976 and the community slowly moved away.

Eventually, just about everyone left and the town became abandoned. You won't find any services here. No gas stations, grocery stores, or restaurants.

This abandoned town in Montana is mainly just homes that were left behind.

While the town has been mostly empty since the late 1970s, there are still a few people who call the town home. Somehow, that makes everything just a bit more eerie.

An anti-government group related to the Sovereign Citizen Movement tried to seize control of the town in 2012. Nothing was particularly legal, though, and today the town sits empty again.

Today, a walk through the town of Saint Marie is a good reminder of what happens when nature is allowed to exist as it wants.
