With a population of 59 people, you wouldn’t think that there would be so much to do in Arrow Rock, Missouri. However, this small town packs a punch when it comes to historical and entertaining attractions.
Start the day off right, with brunch at Chez Trappeur.
Yes, it's a wine bar, but they also serve an amazing brunch every Sunday.
Visit the shops along "The Boardwalk."
When you hear boardwalk, you may think of a path along the ocean. I hate to burst your bubble, but there are no large oceans or lakes nearby. However, Arrow Rock has some of the most authentic small shops which are lined up on Main Street. The wooden-planked walkways to each store is what gave locals a nickname for this main street.
Dine at the oldest continuously operating restaurant west of the Mississippi River.
J. Huston once acted as a common rest stop for immigrants heading West during the 1800s. Today, it continues to have that same welcoming and warm vibe, while also serving the best fried chicken in the state.
Catch a show at the Lyceum Theater.
Lyceum Theater has been putting on shows for the people of Arrow Rock for over 50 years! Performers, designers, directors, and technicians take residence in Arrow Rock for six months each year and produce a variety of musicals, dramas and comedies.
Take a walking tour and learn about Arrow Rock's rich history.
As you walk through town, you'll come across a number of structures that date back to the 1800s. But most importantly, you'll learn about the Santa Fe Trail and how it was used as a major highway before the railroad to Santa Fe was built.
