Winter is positively bewitching in Missouri. The twinkling lights and festive atmosphere certainly add that extra bit of oomph to the coldest days of the year. However, even without them, there’s just something so beautiful about winter – from the fresh snowfall that blankets the landscape to the many activities that call us outdoors, like this beloved winter festival in Missouri.
Weekends at Kiener Plaza in St. Louis are all about family-friendly fun during the annual Winterfest, an epic event that runs from mid-November through the first of the New Year.
Hosted by the Gateway Arch Park Foundation, the popular winter festival celebrates its seventh season in 2022 with a full menu of events and activities.
Bundle up and glide around the ice skating rink, which boasts breathtaking views of the Gateway Arch. In addition to regular ice skating sessions, the rink offers free skating lessons at select times and meets and greets with some of the most popular princesses and superheroes.
Stay toasty and indulge your sweet tooth with a stop at one of the s’mores stations. Buy a s’mores-making kit, toast your marshmallows, and enjoy a delicious treat.
Even if you’re not a fan of the cold, you can experience the magic of Winterfest by booking a 1.5-hour stay in one of the enchanting igloos. Igloos include such perks as an all-day ice skate rental, a credit to the Winterfest Café, and a parking pass for one vehicle.
Plenty of good eats await at the Winterfest Café, whether you book an igloo or not. Featuring JR’s Gourmet, the café will offer a variety of dishes, including sliders, chicken, chili.
One of the highlights of the festival is the family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration, which runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., culminating in a spectacular fireworks show. The rest of the evening includes fire dancers and favorite characters.
