We all deserve to feel like we’re on top of the world, to take a deep breath, feel the golden sunshine on our faces, and let the stress of life wash away. You just might feel you’re on top of the world when you climb to the top of this lookout tower, tucked in the Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area, a fascinating natural wonder in Branson, Missouri.
Stretching across just over 1,500 acres, Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area beckons nature lovers with its many natural features – glades, waterfalls, and bottomland forest.
One of the best ways to drink in the natural beauty of this Missouri conservation area is on a scenic hike that will lead you past many of its natural wonders. For stellar bird’s eye views of the natural wonder, hike to a lookout tower.
Scoring an easy rating, the .08-mile Dewey Bald Lower Lookout Tower Trail is kid and pet-friendly. Some hikers compare it to a leisurely stroll, one that’s fairly easy to traverse with strollers. However, there is a slight grade.
Be prepared for both icy and slippery conditions if you’re hiking in the winter.
The lookout tower sits along the trail. Take heed of the warning sign that advises you will climb at your own risk. A maximum of 10 people are allowed on the lookout tower at a time.
If you’re up for the trek to the top, you’ll be treated to spellbinding views of the natural area and Branson. This is one climb that’s worth it in each season – to drink in the beauty of the fall foliage in the autumn, of the snow-capped landscape in the winter, and of the lush green in the spring and the summer.
