When it comes to hiking, we can pretty much find a trail for whatever mood we’re in. If we want to be a million miles away – or feel as though we are – we can find trails deep in Missouri’s state parks. Or, if we crave human interaction, we can find a scenic city trail. This picturesque trail in Missouri promises plenty of peace, quiet, and natural scenery.
Meandering through Thousand Hills State Park, in Kirksville, the Thousand Hills Trail will take you through beautiful forested areas and along an idyllic lake.
The 7.6-mile trail promises an abundance of natural beauty, but you're going to have to work for it. Rated moderate, Thousand Hills Trail features some rocky terrain, and you'll have to climb up some slight hills.
Don't forget to bring along tick and insect repellent, because you're likely to run into a lot of both. You'll also have the chance to see local wildlife, too, including deer.
