11 Things Every Missourian Wants The Rest Of The Country To Know

It's true, Missouri has undoubtedly the best barbecue in the country, if not the world. But that doesn't mean our palate is limited to burnt ends and a slab of ribs. Our state is bursting at the seams with delicious dining establishments aside from barbecue food.

"Oh, you're from Missouri? You must live on a farm." Actually, I live in an apartment that's walking distance from bars, restaurants and shops. Also, I have never milked a cow in my life. With two major cities, it's safe to say our state can get pretty urban, too.

In the past twenty years, our professional sports teams have won two World Series and two MLS Championship Cups. But this year, it's time for the Chiefs to bring us home a Super Bowl Championship.

Compared to most states in the Midwest, Missouri is actually pretty mild when it comes to winter. In fact, it's not too uncommon to see us out with shorts and flip flops on when it's 40 degrees out.

The family from the hit TV show, "The Simpsons" lived in a town called Springfield. However, their hometown was actually named after Springfield, Oregon, not Springfield, Missouri.

From 1907 to 2012, the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri were in the same athletic conference. This made us the longest-running rivalry west of the Mississippi River in 2011. On November 26, 2011, Mizzou won the final Border War game against the University of Kansas during a football game at Arrowhead Stadium. But that doesn't mean were fans or friends of the Jayhawks now.

Really, trust us on this. This delicacy was invented and perfected in St. Louis and it's absolutely amazing.
