14 Reasons We Are Thankful For Living In Missouri
Spending time with family during the holidays is usually the most important thing about it, and they are the biggest thing to be thankful for, no doubt. But in the spirit of thankfulness, here are a few other reasons to be grateful to be living in the great state of Missouri.

Besides being the birthplace of Budweiser, Missouri is also growing as a major producer of craft beers, and you can find several breweries throughout the state.

Missouri is home to the oldest continually owned and operated winery and more than 120 others. It is fast becoming globally recognized as a major producer of the beverage.

Living in the middle of the country gives us the opportunity to enjoy all four seasons, even if they do seemingly change overnight. From the fresh budding flowers in the spring to the changing leaves in the fall, the seasons create markers for the passage of time.

In Missouri, even the most expensive cities are still cheaper to live in than many other places in the country.

There are six major professional sports teams in Missouri: the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball, the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams of the National Football League, the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League, and the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer.

Towns like Blackwater, Missouri (pictured) are great places to find antiques, and the nearby historic Arrow Rock create an atmosphere that evokes stepping back in time. These small towns are spread all over the state of Missouri and are great day trips or weekend adventures.

There are more than 6,000 known caves in Missouri, some quite large, and others small. They are beautiful, natural wonders that everyone should visit at some point in their lives.

Missouri is part of three mountain ranges: The Ozarks, The St. Francois Mountains, and the U.S. Interior Highlands. According to peakery.com, there are as many as 549 peaks in Missouri.


Missouri is full of rivers, tributaries, streams, and flowing water in general. From anywhere in the state there is a river just a short drive away, and often right in your backyard.

Shaw Nature Reserve (pictured) is just one of the places in Missouri that feature amazing trails. We also have the Katy Trail State Park which is the nation’s longest rails-to-trails conversion and is a linear state park that spans more than 237 miles from Machens to Clinton.

Although not exactly a winter attraction, the many gardens in the state including the Springfield Botanical Gardens (pictured) will be in glorious bloom come spring.

Missouri has well over 162 museums and historic sites, giving Missourians so many opportunities to learn about the past.
