Journey back to the 19th century when you visit Shoal Creek Living History Museum in Kansas City, an outdoor museum that offers a fascinating glimpse into yesteryear.
Part of the larger 1,000-acre Hodge Park, the 80-acre living history museum is home to a village with 21 buildings, of which 13 date back to the 1800s.
The Missouri museum's grounds are open daily from dawn to dusk. However, the buildings are only open during special events that the museum hosts throughout the year.
If you visit when the buildings are closed, grab a map and embark on a self-guided tour. Placards throughout the museum provide insight into the village's history.
