With its balmy temperatures, summertime was just made for stargazing. We’ve got no shortage of parks in Missouri to sit back and marvel at the nighttime sky. For a unique stargazing adventure, however, mark your calendar for one of the upcoming stargazing events at Gateway Arch National Park in St. Louis, Missouri.
The National Park Service, St. Louis Astronomical Society, and Dark Sky Missouri have teamed up to host Gateway to the Stars, at Gateway Arch National Park. The free event promises a fun evening for the whole family.
Set for one Friday evening each month through October, the Gateway to the Stars program will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Weather-depending, this free program will be held in the Visitor Center or on the plaza at the West Entrance.
Spark the imaginations of younger visitors, ages five to 12, with a visit on Kids Explorer Night in August. Kids can participate in a special workshop, which will earn them the Junior Ranger Night Explorer Badge when they create their own Galileoscope.
Be sure to reserve your child’s spot ahead of time by calling 314-655-1704.
Gather around for some spooky stories at the final event, Ghosts of the Arch Grounds. You’ll learn about some real Missourians whose spirits are said to still roam the national park grounds.
