9 Extremely Weird Things Only People From St. Louis Do
Every city has its own really weird traditions, interests, and definition of “normal”. People from St. Louis, Missouri also do weird things that those from other parts of the country do not understand. Here is a list of 9 extremely weird things that you might recognize as simply a part of life in St. Louis:
1. Bass in the trunk?

In St. Louis, we'll spend 40 grand on an SUV for the space it has, and then fill it with amps and subs and have no place for the groceries...
2. Wanna go to the boat?

When friends come to visit from out of town and we invite them to the boat, confusion ensues. As they pack their sunscreen and floaties we check our bank account and grab the keys. "Going to the boat" in St. Louis means it is time to hit the casino!

3. Get a day off work or school because the "river is up".

Life in St. Louis means you sometimes get a legitimate reason to take off school or work because you can't get in or out of the city until the river comes down. The process can easily take days! In St. Louis, every major highway in or out of the city can be affected and literally shut down the whole city.

It is very possible you will use your heat and your air conditioning in the same day many times a month in St. Louis. It is very difficult to maintain a constant temperature. Sledding after breakfast and swimming after dinner, things are never boring in our town!
6. What is that noise?

We don't get concerned if we hear thunder during a snowstorm, we know it's just thundersnow.
7. Tornado Sirens

The chance of a snowstorm tends to get most people from St. Louis more worked up than they get when hearing a tornado siren. That's just part of life in St. Louis, Missouri!
8. Living in St. Louis means you might make French toast at the first hint of a snowstorm.

The minute Channel 2 announces a snowstorm, every store in town is cleaned out of bread, milk, and eggs!
