A true St. Louis creation, the City Museum offers activities you won't find anywhere else in the world. The ten-story slide, ball pit, multiple mazes, and caves were built for adults to enjoy too, making this a place where you join the kids in having fun. Every turn here offers something unexpected, from a huge pair of underwear posted on the wall, to the intricate mosaic designs of the interior. The City Museum also has a rooftop courtyard for viewing the city skyline.
Housed in a former turn-of-the-century family mansion, the Magic House is worth the trip just to tour the building. Fun for the whole family, the Magic House is especially adventurous for the little ones. They an touch the art, go shopping in a grocery store of pretend food, fish, take a turn on the slide and get hands-on with the interactive science based activities.
Throughout the year, Koken Art Factory hosts private parties as well as signature events open to the public. They are known for doing things a little differently, as in their monthly beer and yoga event. Their most popular event is held each February and is called Naughty Gras. The Fox Theater is an amazing venue to catch a show. Designed in a Byzantine style of over-the-top grandeur, the theater is truly a work of art. Stage shows run all year long at The Fabulous Fox and tours of the building are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Saturday tours include an organ presentation at one of the two Wurlitzer organs used during shows. And if they are between shows, then your tour will include the backstage area. The tours last about an hour and a half and ticket prices vary.
A working church holding mass, marriage ceremonies, and baptisms, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis is also an incredible attraction. With visitors from St. Louis and the world coming to see the architecture and design, the Cathedral welcomes all to share in the beauty of the building. The Cathedral is home to the largest mosaic collection in the world, covering most surfaces and with much of the design in gold leaf. Most find the works of art in the Cathedral truly awe inspiring.
