No matter how deep we are into fall, we all know one thing for certain. Winter’s right around the corner, which means it’s never too early to start preparing. But for what should we prepare? A brutally cold and snowy season? Or will we be lucky to escape the brunt of Old Man Winter this year? The Farmers’ Almanac has released its winter predictions for Missouri, and if it proves true, we’re looking at a rather average season.
Prepare for what promises to be a rather normal winter. The Farmers’ Almanac’s winter forecast for Missouri, and for all of the North Central U.S., calls for cold temperatures and average snowfall.
Even though autumn sticks around through December, the cold weather will start blowing through in November. The Farmers’ Almanac’s predictions show the first snowfall early in the month, from Nov. 8-10, 2023.
While we might deal with cold temperatures and some light snow in November, December kicks off with blizzard conditions throughout the North Central U.S. The first week of the month, according to the winter predictions for Missouri, will include plenty of snow.
However, that snow doesn’t appear to stick around for the official arrival of winter or for Christmas Day. Even though we might not have snow, make sure you keep your vehicle in tip-top shape for the cold winter ahead.
The New Year rings in with showers and cold temperatures, but potential for snow doesn’t follow until Jan. 8 and Jan. 11 when there’s a possibility of a huge snowstorm.
Cold temperatures are expected throughout February with few mentions of snow as we welcome March with more cold weather. Some parts of Missouri could see wet snow from March 16-19 (the first day of spring), 2024.
It certainly won’t feel like spring as we bid farewell to March on a cloudy note and welcome April with more cool temperatures. Showers are expected throughout the month.
What do you think of the winter forecast for Missouri? Do you agree with the Farmers’ Almanac predictions? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments! Then take a peek at some things no one tells you about surviving a Missouri winter.
While it might not be a brutally cold or snowy winter, be sure to start preparing early, and keep a shovel handy.
