A scenic drive gives us the chance to roll down the windows – if it’s warm enough – and watch the diverse Missouri landscape roll by. We don’t have to worry about getting stuck in traffic or racing the clock to get to our destination on time. We can take it as slow as we want, pulling over to explore, and savoring the experience. A scenic drive in Missouri, specifically along Route 50, will take you right past the charming small town of Rosebud, a perfect spot to pull over and explore.
Next time your wanderlust starts brewing, slip behind the wheel and follow the scenic Route 50 from Union to Sedalia, a 2.5-hour drive that spans around 127 miles and passes such darling small towns as Beaufort, Linn, and Tipton and the capital of Jefferson City.
While you can easily complete the drive, round-trip, in little more than half a day, try to carve out some time to explore one of the small towns – like Rosebud – along the way.
With a population of just under 400, Rosebud is technically a city but it’s got all of the hallmarks of a small town – from the adorable downtown to friendliness of the townspeople. A day here is like a journey back in time.
If you’re a fan of antiquing, you’ve certainly come to the right place. The darling Missouri town is brimming with antique shops and antique malls where you’re sure to find countless gems.
You might want to time your visit to coincide with one of the town’s popular annual events, such as Christmas in Rosebud, Winter Wine Walks in February, and Treasure Day in May and October.
Rosebud is just 24 miles, about half an hour, from Union, so you won’t have to drive too far along Route 50. However, if you’ve got the time after visiting this small town in Missouri, keep following the scenic route all the way to Sedalia.
