We wine lovers have it pretty good in Missouri. Since Missouri is home to more than 130 wineries, we’re never far from one, where we can relax, sample a few wines, and maybe have a bite to eat. But what happens when we’re in the mood for a bit of an adventure? We follow one of the nine Missouri wine trails that showcases some of the best wineries – and wines – the state has to offer.
Sometimes nothing soothes the soul and helps us relax like a day of sipping fine wine and exploring some of Southeast Missouri’s best wineries. The Route Du Vin Wine Trail leads to several wineries in Ste. Genevieve and Farmington, including those highlighted below.
Cave Vineyard in Ste. Genevieve is arguably one of the most unique wineries in Missouri. Start your visit in the tasting room, where you can decide which wines you’d like to buy. After you’ve purchased your favorites, grab a few biscotti, and head to the cave – yep, you read right, cave – for a one-of-a-kind picnic.

You can also explore the vineyards on one of its hiking trails.
Sand Creek Vineyard, a family-owned winery, earns rave reviews for its welcoming ambiance. Sample some of the 10 wines the winery offers. Then enjoy a picnic, pairing your wine, or a cold beer, with pizza, cheese and crackers, or chocolate. Cool off with one of the winery’s famous frozen wine-a-ritas.
Enjoy sweeping farm views during a wine tasting at the family-owned Twin Oaks Vineyard & Winery. The winery offers an idyllic setting for relaxing. Sample some of its most popular wines; order a beer, or try one of the cocktails on the menu.
Before heading out, though, check out the website of each winery to ensure it is open on the day you plan to visit.
