Strolling along the Mississippi may be impressive but it’s not always pretty. The river known affectionately as “The Big Muddy” may not be the most beautiful, but the Missouri River certainly is! While there are many great views along the Missouri River, there is one city park that turned the river banks into a stunning riverwalk. Take in the sights while you reach that daily steps goal.
St. Joseph, Missouri sits squarely on the banks of the Missouri River. This historic town was built around the river, so it only makes sense that they would have the stunning Riverfront Park.
At the end of the trail is the Remington Nature Center. This interpretive, educational center helps people of all ages learn about wildlife and the environment. The nature center has many displays featuring animal habitats including a beaver dam, beehive, and 7,000-gallon native fish aquarium. They also host many hands-on learning events and activities throughout the year.
Overall, this stunning riverwalk is a magical place to enjoy nature and the occasional sunset. Although you're just steps away from downtown St. Joseph, Riverfront Park will make you feel like you're miles away in the idyllic Missouri countryside.
