Well we’ve complied the statistics from Sperling’s Best Places and have created a list of the 10 most religious towns in Missouri. You may be surprised by the town that took the number one spot!
Maryville has a population of just over 11,000 and is home to Northwest Missouri State Universality. Maryville is the 10th most religious town in Missouri with 53% of the population having a religious affiliation. The most common religious affiliation in Maryville is Catholicism.
Hannibal is a small river town with about 17,000 people. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, Hannibal is best know for being the boyhood home of author Mark Twain. Hannibal comes in as the 9th most religious town in the state. 54% of the population has a religious affiliation with 18.5% identifying as Baptist.

Joplin is one of the last towns in Southwest Missouri before entering Kansas or Oklahoma. Joplin is one of the larger towns on this list with a population of just over 50,000. Of that, 55.4% of the population identifies as religious making it the eighth most religious town in Missouri. At 22% the vast majority of those identifying as religious are Baptist.

Marshall is located along Interstate 70 and has a population of about 13,000 people. Marshall may be most well known for a former four legged resident, Jim the Wonder Dog. Marshall comes in as the seventh most religious town in Missouri with 55.7% of the population having a religious affiliation. Of those 55.7%, the majority identify as Baptist.
Moberly is a small town in central Missouri just north of Columbia. With 55.8% of the population having a religious affiliation, Moberly ranks as the sixth most religious town in Missouri. 18% off the 55.8% identify as Baptist.

Mexico is a small town in central Missouri with a population of just over 11,000 people. Mexico comes in as the 5th most religious city in Missouri. 58% of those in Mexico have a religious affiliation with the majority identifying as Baptist.
Sikeston is located just outside of the bootheel in southern Missouri. This farming community with a population of just over 16,000 people is the fourth most religious town in Missouri. 59% of the population has a religious affiliation with the majority identifying as Baptist followed by Catholic.
Jefferson City is Missouri's capital and third most religious town. With a population of 43,000, 59% identify as religious with 21% affiliating with Catholicism.

Sedalia is home to the Missouri State Fair and is home to over 21,000 people. Sedalia comes in at number two in the ranking of most religious cities in Missouri with 60% of the population having a religious affiliation. The vast majority of the 60% identify as Baptist.
Cape Girardeau is the most religious community in Missouri which may come as a surprise. A whopping 69% of the 37,000 people that live there identify as religious. This 60% is split fairly evenly between Baptist, Catholic, and Pentecostal affiliations.
