Sunny days are here again! And, can you feel a lightness to your step, seeing the blooming flowers, feeling the rising temperatures, and knowing the snow is behind us (we hope, right?) for another winter? Everything just seems so much brighter this season, doesn’t it? Get outdoors and enjoy the lovely weather and the blossoming flowers at this breathtaking 970-acre botanical garden in Missouri that welcomes visitors all year around.
Slip on your comfiest shoes for your visit to Powell Gardens in Kingsville, a spectacular natural oasis that spans 970 lush acres.
In fact, the botanical garden is home to more than 225,000 seasonal plants and 6,000 varieties of plants. You've got a lot of ground to cover, so let's go!
Wander through a wooded area when you embark on the Byron Shutz Nature Trail, which spans 3.25 miles and will lead you by picturesque ponds and a meadow of flowers. (Be sure to take bottled water with you, too.)
And, if you're visiting on a scorching day? Make a beeline straight for the Fountain Garden. Admire the flowers and plants and cool down under the mist from the fountain.
Or, if you don't feel like getting wet, visit the shaded David T. Beals III Woodland & Stream Garden. Stroll over charming footbridges as you admire such seasonal flowers as daffodils and azaleas in early spring.
Spend a leisurely morning or afternoon at Powell Gardens, open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through April 30, 2019. Then, from May 1 to September 2, 2019, the gardens are open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Hours at the year-round gardens vary depending on the time of the year.)
